Your smart speaker can answer a question, but can it show you the recipe while you cook? Apple HomeView, announced on October 13, 2026, is a $299 smart display with a 7-inch screen, an A18 chip and Siri AI. Pre-orders have opened in six countries, with availability starting November 13, although Apple is leaving the EU out of this launch.

    What Apple HomeView Actually Is

HomeView gives you a shared screen for music, video calls and connected home devices. You can use it on a counter or attach it to a wall, depending on which model you buy. That choice changes how the hardware fits into your room.

The tabletop version has a rounded speaker base and a steel hinge that lets you adjust the screen’s angle. The wall version uses a much thinner enclosure. According to Tom’s Guide, you cannot detach the tabletop screen from its base.

You see, Apple wants the same device to serve several people without giving everyone the same experience. Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak describes it as a household product that adapts to individual users.

The kitchen is a major part of that pitch. You can follow recipe instructions, manage timers and make FaceTime calls from the counter. Apple introduced HomeView through a press release, with no live keynote.

Apple HomeView Price and Total Cost

Both versions carry the same $299 US price, but your final bill depends on the installation. The tabletop box includes its power accessories, while the wall box contains the device and documentation. Here is how the extra hardware changes the cost.

    SetupHomeView priceMountEstimated total
    Tabletop$299None required$299
    Wall with USB-C mount$299From $59.95About $358.95, plus a power adapter
Wall with AC Wired mount$299From $79.95About $378.95 before installation
Wall with PoE mount$299$129.95, due early 2027About $428.95 before installation

Those wall totals come from adding the listed device and mount prices. You may need further power accessories, depending on your chosen mount. Tom’s Guide reports that a licensed electrician is recommended for the AC Wired option.

Apple Retail will offer paid ADT installation in the US starting this fall, but the fee has not been announced. Some server-based Siri AI features have daily limits, too. Apple says paid access beyond those limits will follow, without giving a price.

Release Date and Where You Can Buy It

You can already order HomeView in the first six markets through Apple’s online store or Apple Store app. Singapore follows a separate pre-order schedule, while South Africa uses authorized resellers. These are the dates to keep in mind.

    • October 13, 2026. Pre-orders opened in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK and the US.
    • October 15, 2026. Singapore orders begin at 9 a.m. local time.
    • October 30, 2026. HomePod mini 2 arrives, although Siri AI will come to it later.
    • November 13, 2026. HomeView becomes available in the launch markets, including South Africa through authorized resellers.
    • December 2026 onward. Most Apple Home Collection accessories arrive in December, with some products and the PoE mount following in early 2027.

    Why HomeView Skips the EU

You cannot buy HomeView in the EU at launch because Siri AI is unavailable there on iOS. Apple says discussions with the EU are continuing to find a way forward. There is no announced release date for EU buyers.

    Specs Breakdown

The two versions share their display, processor and camera specifications, so choosing the wall model does not mean accepting a smaller screen. The main differences concern sound, weight and the hardware supplied in the box. Here is the comparison.

The wall version leaves out the base’s woofer and passive radiators, giving you a body about 0.39 inches deep. Both models need Wi-Fi and a compatible iPhone running iOS 27.2 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 27.2 or later, for setup.

What Siri AI and Face Recognition Do on HomeView

HomeView can adapt its screen to the person using it, but some personal features depend on a paired Apple device. Siri AI launches in English and carries a beta label in HomeView software 27.2. Here is what that means for your everyday use.

    1. Up to six personal profiles

HomeView can identify six enrolled people and give each person their own Home Screen and widgets. Your messages, calendar and other private information appear for you under Apple’s access conditions. Guests can still enjoy shared music and photo albums.

    2. Siri AI that knows your schedule

For Siri to use your calendar, messages or music playlists as personal context, you need a paired iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence. Without one, you can still ask general questions, hold conversations and get help finding music.

Your conversations can continue through the Siri app on other supported Apple devices using iCloud. Canadian French is planned for a later free update.

    3. Kitchen help and timers

Cooking with your hands full? HomeView can take a recipe from the web and present it as individual instructions. You can manage timers by voice and keep track of ingredients while preparing the meal.

    4. Faces that turn it into a photo frame or camera wall

Apple calls its display styles Faces, with options including Photos, Flow, Snoopy and Home Modular. You can choose a photo display or use Home Camera to watch as many as nine live camera views together. The interface also changes how much detail it shows according to your distance from the screen.

    5. Privacy controls

Recognizing your face alone does not grant access to private content. Your paired iPhone or iPad must also be close by and have been unlocked recently.

Secure Exclaves keep camera and microphone information isolated. Siri processes requests on the device or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, depending on the request.

Smart Home Control and the Apple Home Collection

HomeView lets you operate compatible home devices through its touchscreen or by talking to Siri. It also acts as a home hub, supporting accessories that use Apple Home, Matter and Thread. Here is what you can control and what Apple’s new accessory range adds.

You can adjust lights, thermostats and blinds, check cameras or operate compatible locks. HomeView can also listen for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and send notifications to your Apple devices. For music across several rooms, it works with HomePods, AirPlay speakers and other HomeView units.

The Apple Home Collection adds products made with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. These are separate purchases, so leave room in your budget if you want new hardware alongside the display.

    • LG Video Doorbell Wired. Priced at $249.95.
    • LG Smart Deadbolt Lock. Costs $349.95 and supports hands-free entry using an eligible iPhone or Apple Watch home key.
    • Smart thermostats. LG and Schneider Home each offer a $199.95 model.
    • LG cameras. Indoor, outdoor and floodlight options range from $199.95 to $399.95.

Most accessories are due in December, with some following in early 2027. The lock and thermostats are limited to the US and Canada.

Eligible iCloud+ plans add encrypted camera features such as event descriptions and video searches. Those functions also require an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence.

How HomeView Compares With Echo Show and Nest Hub

HomeView competes with Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub, but your existing devices matter as much as the display itself. If your household already uses Apple services, its personal profiles and connected apps may be more useful to you. Start with these practical differences.

QuestionApple HomeViewAmazon Echo Show / Google Nest Hub
Price$299 before wall accessoriesTom’s Guide cites an unspecified Echo Show at $249. Check current Nest Hub prices
AssistantSiri AI, launching in betaAlexa or Google’s assistant
Best fit ecosystemA household using iPhones and Apple HomeA household already using Alexa or Google services
App storeApple confirms compatible third-party apps. Tom’s Guide reports no App Store, which Apple has not confirmedCheck support for the particular apps you need
EU availabilityExcluded from Apple’s announced launchCheck local availability for your chosen model

You see, switching assistants means considering the routines and devices you already use. HomeView’s appeal is stronger when its Apple connections match your daily habits.

    Should You Pre-Order Apple HomeView

Pre-ordering makes more sense when you already know where HomeView will sit and what you will use it for. A kitchen screen, shared music player or countertop FaceTime device gives you a specific reason to buy. Use these two lists to check whether ordering now suits you.

    Good fit if you…

    • Use iPhones at home. Personal Siri features require a paired Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone or iPad.
    • Already use Apple Home or HomeKit. You have compatible devices for HomeView to control.
    • Want help while cooking. Recipe instructions, ingredient tracking and voice-operated timers match that use.
    • Make regular FaceTime calls. A separate screen with Center Stage may be useful on your counter.

    Wait if you…

    • Live in the EU. Apple has given no release date for your region.
    • Lack an Apple Intelligence-compatible device. You would miss Siri’s personal-context functions.
    • Depend on Alexa or Google routines. Consider how HomeView would fit your existing setup.
    • Need the PoE wall mount. That accessory is scheduled for early 2027.
    • Want independent reviews first. Siri AI is still beta software.

Cult of Mac raises another fair point. If you rarely put your iPhone down, you may get less use from a separate household display.

    What We Still Don’t Know

Apple has announced the hardware, prices and launch schedule, but several purchase details remain unsettled. Some concern extra costs, while others need clarification or independent testing. Keep these open questions in mind before placing your order.

    • Installation charges. ADT installation carries an additional fee, but Apple has not published the amount.
    • EU timing. Apple says discussions are continuing, with no date for sales in the region.
    • Third-party apps. Apple has confirmed compatibility with some apps without providing a complete launch list in the supplied announcement.
    • Future Siri charges. Certain server-based features have daily limits, and paid access beyond those limits is planned. Pricing has not been disclosed.
    • Everyday Siri performance. TechCrunch reports that Siri AI difficulties contributed to delays, although Apple has not confirmed that explanation. Independent reviews will help you judge the finished experience.
    • Other HomePod models. HomePod mini 2 is due to receive Siri AI later, but it remains unclear whether it or older HomePods will offer the same functions as HomeView.
    • A robotic-arm version. Reports attributed to Mark Gurman describe a possible later model. Apple has not announced such a product.

What to Watch Before November 13

Between now and launch, reviews and software availability should give you more information for your decision. Delivery estimates, the December accessory rollout and any EU announcement are worth checking, too. Start with the requirements you can verify today.

Check whether your iPhone or iPad supports Apple Intelligence if you want Siri to use personal information. You will also need iOS 27.2 or iPadOS 27.2, or a later version, for HomeView setup.

Then decide between the tabletop and wall versions. The tabletop package includes its cable and adapter, while the wall version requires separate installation hardware. If you need PoE, plan around the mount’s early 2027 arrival.

Watch for reviews that test voice requests, recognition of different household members and kitchen use. That should help you judge whether the announced features are useful enough for your own routine before committing $299 or more.

    FAQs

How much will Apple HomeView cost you in total?

Your starting cost is $299 in the US for either version, with the tabletop model including its power accessories. A wall setup starts at about $358.95 with the USB-C mount, before a separately purchased adapter. Other mounts and paid installation can raise that total.

When does HomeView arrive at your door?

HomeView’s announced availability begins November 13, 2026, but your individual delivery date depends on the estimate shown for your order. Pre-orders opened October 13 in six markets, with Singapore following October 15. South African buyers get access through authorized resellers from November 13.

Can you use HomeView without an iPhone?

You can set up HomeView with a compatible iPad instead of an iPhone. Setup requires iPadOS 27.2 or later, or an eligible iPhone running iOS 27.2 or later. Siri’s personal-context features need a paired Apple Intelligence-compatible device, while general questions, conversation and music assistance remain available without that capability.

Why can’t you buy HomeView in Europe?

HomeView is excluded from the EU launch because Siri AI is unavailable there on iOS. Apple says it is discussing a way forward with the EU, but has announced no sales date. The stated restriction concerns the EU, while the UK is included in the launch.

Does HomeView work with Matter and non-Apple smart devices?

Yes, HomeView supports compatible Matter accessories and products that work with Apple Home, including devices made by other companies. It also has Thread connectivity for supported accessories. Check the specific product’s compatibility before assuming it will work with your display.

Is the wall-mounted HomeView worth the extra setup?

The wall model may suit you if mounting the screen matters more than having the tabletop speaker base. It keeps the same display, chip and camera specifications, but requires separately purchased mounting hardware and has a different speaker arrangement. Your decision should account for installation costs and the PoE mount’s later arrival.
